Hey Steve, most New Zealand Boys are pretty nice if they still don’t have their Daddies and Mummies for Support Crew! They are spolit boyz. They think they can swear and shove, but they might need a wee lesson back in Kindergarten. Or a good team of fiesty Americans too put the pressure on them and next year “whip the lycra shorts of them”. They need good humoured, able, and more mature riders to come along and make them come up to the post. So don’t keep away - tell the HILO team and their Manager they all have to come back and show the Kiwi’s some “manners and skill” … at the end of the day our team were sports. Impressive and manners … so, next year change the “lip gloss” … and see if that sorts the little boys out in the race! Its a common fact overseas that NZ’rs and Ozzies lack confidience … so don’t let them get away with it.
To anyone that finished the Tour of Southland or even made it 1/2 way through “well done” because it was pretty horrid. It verged on Multisport not a “Flash Road Bike race” …

Actualey, I think you should tell nasty people in your NZ Races to put their “big girl panties on” in future and “get over it” … thats what my nasty team mate told me the other day when I didn’t like the idea of my basic but for “me” scary kayak section in a race coming up in March next year over 385 kms … it’s got biking, and Mt Biking and running and flat kayaking etc but it’s got a “yuck kayak in parts too” ~ so the Hayden Rolstons regardless of all the Eastern Med in the world need a little tickle up on manners and hospitality and I think you should tell him to ‘get his big girl panties on " quote / unquote my www.goldrush team mate March 2008 -

Hey Steve, regardless of how ticked off you are with these “down under atheletes” Hayden Rolston has just pulled of another stirling performance or several I should say after doing “Tour Of Southland” and now Oceania Games … so you’ll just have to come back next year … and stay out front so you dont’ have to put up with any pushing, shoving and bad manners from anyone! So you might need to get those Lycra shorts shinned up … and whats even more insulting is our weather is completley amazing at the moment - 2 weeks ago it was near zero, verging on snow, sleet and ice, and today we have doors open, 25 degree’s, and have had close to that for 4 days … so maybe, next year the weather will be nice. Where Hayden Rolston is concerned , he’s certainley shown some amazing ability and silenced any critics around here for now … so, all you can do is get those shiney pants on and see what you can do to show some Kiwi’s and Ozzies some manners … have to say the fact the kiwi’s beat Ozzies in anything is always very important. So Hayden has done us proud.
Sorry Tilly,

Just a thought when I view the itemized text. Is there a way to graphically represent the resume? Someone would have a better idea, but how about a pie chart? It weights each 1st the same, each 2nd, etc., but still it might look interesting. Then add colors for each slice.
Steve, I thought your assertion of Oregon going to USAC sounded inaccurate, so I contacted Mike Murray of the Oregon Bicycle Racing Association. Here is his repsonse:
There is NO chance that OBRA will be returning to USAC. If they think that OBRA will be returning they seriously underestimate the size of OBRA’s operation, the associated revenue stream ans the depth on animosity towards them.

Steve,
I met you years ago (early 90’s) - you were on a training ride prior to US Pro Championships in Philadelphia - you had a wheel problem and stopped at our bike shop in Manayunk. We gave you the closest road wheel we could find. (Not an easy feat because we really only sold mountain bikes) - you returned the wheel as promised. True sportsman - I have always been a fan since that day. It’s awesome to see you still throwing down - it’s even better that I haven’t seen your name associated with all the doping news that has happened over the years.
Now my “wheel story” mentioned - replaces the story where I got an opportunity to ride with the USPS crew (Lance, Frankie, George, etc) as the most awesome pro cyclist encounter… take care - may your wheels always spin true!

Steve,
I talked to you after the pro race and told you I was driving the support moto you needed 6-8 years ago. Got you rolling in under 20 sec. and you caught the field.
If you drive as fast as you race to Menominee, I’m guessing it was 1/2 hr. instead of the 1 and a half hr I told you.
The next time you hook up with my buddy Dave Pramann ask him if he’s fallen off the crapper lately. Good for a great Laugh!
Have fun today and tomorrow on the 20%er.
Gary
