Post Chequamegon
Chequamegon was yesterday and I’ll have to post it tomorrow. I finished 9th. It was a late night last night and this morning came way too quickly. Gary moved up the awards ceremony to 4 pm, so I barely had the bikes clean before we had to head back to Telemark. We cut absolutely zero firewood, which is a first in the last decade. So this morning, I’m going to cut wood for a few hours before watching the Team Time Trial World Championship in the afternoon.
I’m flying to Richmond tomorrow, which is a quick turn around. I would love to hang here a couple more days to swim, cut wood, and just do Northwood stuff. But the worlds only come to US approx. every 29 years, so I probably should head out there.
Okay, sorry about the short post, but fun stuff supersedes computer babbling.

Just an FYI, I do expect that you’ll be getting your own place to stay in Richmond. No room for moochers this year. I have a tiara for you, though

Since the World’s comes to the USA only once every 29 years and we were there last time as well as when they came close (Hamilton 2003?), we’ll be there too! On another note can anyone explain to this old fart why-the-hell MTB handlebars are so freakin’ WIDE these days? They look to be 29" just like the wheels vs 22" or a max of 24" back-in-the-days of “cut yer bars!” to fit through the trees. Do the huge 29" front wheels need more leverage due to their increased gyroscopic effects? Are all the trees farther apart nowadays? I scratch my bald pate every time I see these crazy-looking handlebars!
