Lutsen 99'er
Yesterday was the Lutsen 99’er Mtb race. I’m kind of busy today with a bunch of cleaning, driving, and such to do. I’ll do a recap tomorrow when I have more time.
The race went pretty well. but not exactly how I envisioned it. Brian Jensen (team mate) and I rode together for much of the race and I ended up having to leave my wingman with about 30 miles to go and ended up winning by 9 minutes. Brian held on for 2nd, barely, all cramped up and hurting.
Okay, like I said, I have a ton of stuff to do this morning so I’d better get to it. Little wrecked today, not too bad, but a little.

All those naysayers were right last week. Time for Steve to hang it up. Haha. He’ll be kicking ass for another 20 years.

Congratulations Steve! Your race recap should be a short one…“Went to the front, hammered, won.”

Pretty cool to see Allen Iverson coming in 20-something place…Wonder if he wore his 76er uni…Still following this, I’m sure: http://youtu.be/eGDBR2L5kzI

Great race Steve! You and Brian went flying by me on one of the sections that we did twice. You were hauling. I finished but it was tough. Congats

LeDouche- Where does he say he didn’t feel well? He only said it didn’t go as he envisioned. Nice try, idiot.

I think we can finally conclude that a huge chunk of success in this sport HAS to be genetics. You were badly injured a year ago. Your racing fitness went down to what “average” racers would have no choice but to call a ZERO level. I’ve read your blog almost every day since then. I don’t get the impression that you’ve “particularly” busted-ass to re-attain top fitness levels. It seems you just ride a lot. You don’t describe any heroic effort to get back to where you were. Not to imply that you don’t work hard. It just seems that perhaps you’ve just got biology going for you in a way that many others do not. Perhaps I don’t have to beat myself up as much for feeling that I didn’t work hard enough when I was younger? I worked damn hard to do well.

Remember a while ago Steve mentioned his brother on or before a birthday decided to run a marathon. I don’t remember him mentioning any training or conditioning. Simply out of the blue.
