Burning Man Tomorrow
Tomorrow is the official start of Burning Man, a week long “art festival” in the middle of the Nevada desert. I have always been interested in Burning Man, but have never gone past the occasional google search.
If you like people watching, which I do, I believe Burning Man might be the pinnacle of it. I very much doubt you’ll find a place on the planet that you would be able to find a bigger collection of eclectic people at one time.
I think getting into Burning Man is harder than getting into Leadville. Plus the preparation might be as energy intensive as what I just did for the last month.
Anyway, I figure that if I went to Burning Man, my stick would be a roving bicycle shop. Bicycles are the choice transportation at Burning Man and I assume a ton of them break down because of the dust and such, but probably more from the debauchery.
I think it would be an interesting life experience.

I bet the country stampede in Manhattan smells much worse. The burning man festivals push a strong theme of civility & civic responsibility-

The Burning Man is nothing, nothing compared to Kumbh Mela: http://www.dawn.com/news/1203621

I am sorry to say…the Sex and Pschedelics is overblown….they are there but this is not the focus…It is about ART and Individual Freedom that is based on Community. My first burn was 1996….and then ‘99,2000, 2001,2,3,4,5…then I quit until 2012….It has changed considerably in its Vibe…from very edgy renegade Artist community to Techies/AirConditioned RV camps….that know next to nothing about Freedom and Art….anyway if it is your first time you won’t know the difference…

Not true…I have been to the “Mela” as well…lots of ego there as well…and nothing that even comes close to the Art at BM

I think someone here might be my soul mate. Cars, bikes, riding with no helmet and now BM. It’s all about personal freedom in our society which is gettin harder and harder to find. There’s a lot of different vids out there tryin to show what BM’s all about but imho this one’s is the best so far… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGTjHSBYQLw
