I hope you’re OK Steve. We don’t heal as fast as we did 30-years ago.

He probably won’t be doing pushups for a while yet, unless they’re the one-handed type…

Sorry to hear. You will be missed at JMSR this year. I went down two years ago at Flint Ridge in OK at 40+ downhill and ended up with a level 5 seperation. It basically means that most or all the ligaments are completely torn, and they won’t heal on their own. But before you go out and get surgery, go see a specialist. The specialist I saw told me to give it a few months and unless I had a range of motion of less than 70% or continous pain to not get surgery. I regained 90%+ motion well within three months and have no pain unless it is a major weather change. Surgery can restrict motion as much as 70% and you may still have continous pain. Specialist can also give semi-annual injections to help with any pain. I was back racing again at Har-Ber Meadows three weeks after Flint Ridge, and I am a mid 40’s CAT3 wanna be. Good luck and heal fast. The DSCC boys appreciate your continued support of Hell’s Kitchen.

Tough fall, Steve. Get surgery immediately. Then, inject something to speed your recovery.
